It Ain't Over 'Til the Fat Lady Sings

This pennant race just ain't over yet. Clay Buchholz improved to 17-7, and lowered his ERA to 2.33 and his WHIP to 1.20 as he pitched a masterful 8 innings. All he did was scatter 5 hits, 1 walk and 1 run, while striking out 5 White Sox. Atchison pitched a scoreless 9th inning, giving up 1 of Manny Ramirez's 2 singles, giving Bard and Papelbon some much needed rest.

The Red Sox offense pounded Mark Buehrle for 11 hits in 6 IP, and pounded the White Sox bullpen for 5 more hits. Ortiz was 2/5 with 2 RBI's, pushing him over the century mark in that statistic. Scutaro and Marinez each had 3 hits, while Beltre had a 4/5 day.

Manny had 2 singles, but his production since moving to the Windy City has been pathetic: 15/62, 1 HR, .242/.306/.405/.711 since moving to Chicago, (pathetic for Manny that is.) While looking up Manny's stats, I notice that he shares the DH spot with another former Boston player, Mark Kotsay.

43 yo Omar Vizquel is still hitting .287 for the White Sox at this late stage of the season, but has been moved over to 2B from the hot corner.

Now, about that fat lady...
Both the Rays and the Yanks lost today leaving the standings looking like this at the end of today's games:

Now you may call me a dreamer (but I'm not the only one), but it is still within the realm of possibility that the AL East could finish looking like this:

I'm sure they're still keeping busy in Vegas.

And in case you have forgotten, click here to see what Buehlre did on opening day.
