Sox on short end of pitcher’s duel

Lackey had it goin’ on today, big time, and finally! In the 1st 6 innings of the game, he gave up 2 hits, no walks, and had three 1-2-3 innings. Going into the bottom of the 7th inning, Boston had a 2-0 lead. Four hits and an error plated 3 A’s. Bard was not up to par in this game in the 8th inning- 4 walks and a hit scored 1 more A. In the top of the 9th inning, doubles by Martinez and Beltre scored 1 more run, but that was it. The Sox pitchers allowed only 7 hits by the A’s, while they had 10 hits, and 22 men LOB.

The Yankees lost and the Rays won, leaving the Sox 9.5 GB the Yankees, and 8.5 GB the Rays. The White Sox are also 8.5 GB the Rays. It looks like the rookies will be getting some regular playing time for the remainder of the year.

Sox 3 A’s 4 BOX SCORE
